A Philippine Airlines flight made an emergency landing at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) on Friday(Philippine time).
Philippine Airlines Flight PR113, a Boeing 777, bound for Manila declared a Mayday shortly after departure from Los Angeles. Reported a right engine failure and request for immediate return to the airport.
Photos were captured by a certain Yochai Mossi as the Philippine Airlines Flight PR113 takeoff Runway 25R and flames were visible on the right side of the plane.
Video recorded by people on the ground shows flames spewing out of one of the plane’s engines, emitting plumes of black smoke.
In a statement Philippine Airlines confirmed that Flight PR113 departing from LAX experienced a technical problem in one of its engines shortly after take-off.
The Boeing 777 aircraft headed by a Batangueño Captain Triston Simeon, who hails from Lipa, Batangas, was able to turn back to the airport and make a precautionary landing.
All 347 passengers and 18 crew members are safe and were able to disembark from the plane using regular airstairs and there are no reported injuries.
The aircraft landed runway 25L and was met by emergency responders. Due to the weight of the Boeing 777 (full tanks), all tires of the main gear exploded.
Meanwhile, Captain Triston Simeon, the pilot of the aircraft together with First Officer Louie Quinit, Second Officer Iris Matilde Leoncio, Second Officer Pio Paolo Gindap earned lots of praise after bringing all the passengers and crew to safety at the airport.
