BATANGUENYA SHARPSHOOTER JANINE PONTEJOS BAGS GOLD MEDAL IN THE FIBA 3X3 WORLD CUP SHOOT-OUT CONTEST
Janine Pontejos of Perlas Pilipinas bags the gold medal on the FIBA 3X3 World Cup Shoot-out Contest today, June 12, 2018, held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The Lemery, Batangas native Pontejos bests Russia’s Alexandra Stolyar to earn the top spot and be hailed as the best female shooter in the FIBA World Cup 3×3 Tournament 2018.
In the final round, Pontejos and Russia’s Stolyar were able to score 14 points apiece but Pontejos bested her as she was able to get the 14 points 8 seconds earlier than the Russian.
Croatia’s Marin Hrvoje bagged the bronze medal with 11 points while Maksim Dybovskii settled for the 4th place finish.
As for the 3X3 team competition, the Perlas Pilipinas took an early exit as they were not able to wound up a win as they end up the tournament with a 0-4 win-loss record.
