PANGULONG DUTERTE IPINATIGIL ANG FOREIGN RESEARCH SA BENHAM RISE…

Ipinatigil ni Pangulong Duterte ang pagsasaliksik ng lahat ng mga banyagang siyentipiko sa Benham rise na kikilalanin na ngayon bilang Philippine Rise.

Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, ang kautusang ito ay ibinaba ni Pangulong Duterte sa 22nd Cabinet meeting sa Malacañang noong Lunes.

“President Rody Duterte last night ordered the cessation of all marine explorations and studies by foreign scientists and directed the Philippine Navy to ‘chase out’ any vessel fishing or conducting research,” ayon kay Piñol.

Dagdag pa niya, “Let me be very clear about this: the Philippine Rise is ours and any insinuation that it is open to everybody should end with this declaration,” wika umano ng Pangulo.

Samantala kinumpirma naman ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ang pahayag ng Pangulo at tatawagin umanong Philippine Rise ang Benham Rise.

Ang direktiba ay inihayag ng Pangulo nitong Lunes sa naganap na 22nd Cabinet meeting.

Narito ang pahayag ni Roque.

“I confirm that the President ordered that henceforth only Filipinos will be allowed to conduct scientific research, lay submarine cables and explore and exploit for national resources in the Philippine Rise. The President also enjoined all members of the Cabinet to refer to the area as Philippine Rise and not as Benham Rise.”-Roque.

Ipinagutos ng Pangulo ang pagpapawalang-bisa ng lahat ng existing foreign licenses para sa scientific research sa loob ng Philippine territory.

Tinatayang nasa 30 licenses ang naipagkaloob sa mga foreign entities tulad ng China, Estados Unidos, Japan, Korea, at Germany ang nakansela na ayon sa pagkukumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Samantala, nilinaw naman ni Roque na maari pa ring magsagawa ng research ang mga dayuhan sa Philippine Rise ngunit kinakailangan na ngayon ang personal approval mula sa National Security Adviser (NSA).

“It’s not really a ban… it’s just a directive that we want Filipinos to do it as much as possible; that we are reserving it for Filipinos,” dagdag ni Roque.
