FDA warns public against buying and consuming unregistered food products including popular Liver spread brand

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through  its latest advisory FDA-Advisory-No.2020-1618 warns all the general public NOT TO PURCHASE AND CONSUME the unregistered food products and  food supplements including the well-known Reno Brand Liver Spread.

The products mentioned are as follows

1. RENO BRAND Liver Spread
2. MIRACLE WHITE Advance Whitening Capsules Food Supplement
3. TURCUMIN 100% Natural & Standardized Turmeric Curcumin
4. DESA Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil
5. SAMANTHA’S DIPS AND SAUCE Spanish Sardines Paste Sauce

According to FDA they verify the products through online monitoring or post-marketing surveillance that the abovementioned food products and supplements are not registered and has no corresponding Certificates of Product Registration (CPR) issued.

Therefore, pursuant to the Republic Act No. 9711, otherwise known as the “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009”, manufacturing, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization is prohibited.

“Since these unregistered food products and food supplements have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety,” the agency added.
