After a month-long modified GCQ, the province of Batangas reverted to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) category starting August 1 to August 15 as announced by President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday morning.
Lipa City Mayor through a Facebook Live of his “Ulat Bayan” in his official page Mayor Eric B. Africa announced the imposition of a citywide lockdown in the city of Lipa starting August 01, 2020, until further notice.
With the re-imposition of rigorous stay-at-home restrictions, quarantine pass will now be required once again for Lipenos to go out of their houses to buy basic needs or to go to work. Elderly and children under 21 are not allowed to go out except for medical emergencies.
Checkpoints will be visible in different strategic parts of the city to control the movements of people thus lessening the chance of possibly spreading the disease.
Secondary roads like San Jose-Pangao Road, Calamias-Ibaan Road, Lumbang-Alaminos Road, and other secondary roads leading to the city will be temporarily closed.
Liquor ban and curfew hours of 7PM to 5AM will be implemented once the lockdown starts.
Meanwhile, Non-Lipeño workers that are working in Lipa will be required to submit a negative swab o rapid test result.
As of July 31, 2020: 4 PM, the city recorded 119 confirmed cases and 67 recoveries of Covid-19.
Mayor Africa in his final statement urged the residents to stay safe not just for themselves but for their family as well and pleads for cooperation from the residents of Lipa.
“Sa atin pong mga kababayan, muli po ako nakikiusap sa ating lahat, na tayo po ay mag-ingat. Hindi na po sa ating sarili. Pati na po sa ating pamilya. Dahil hindi po namin kayang bantayan ang lahat ng tao. Tayo ay mag-tulungan para masigurado po natin na maibaba natin ang active cases dito sa Lungsod ng Lipa. Muli po marami pong salamat at mabuhay po tayong lahat.”
