Magnitude 4.6 Quake jolts Mabini, Batangas

BATANGAS EARTHQUAKE

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a 4.6 magnitude earthquake on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 8:59PM.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located at 13.73N, 120.91E – 004 km S 50° W of Mabini (Batangas)

The quake is tectonic in origin with a 7 km depth of focus.

Reported Intensities:
Intensity V- Mabini and Bauan, Batangas
Intensity IV- Batangas City; Santo Tomas, Batangas
Intensity III- Malvar, Cuenca, Tanauan, San Pascual and Calatagan, Batangas; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro and San Pablo, Laguna
Intensity II- Alfonso, Cavite; San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro

Instrumental Intensity:
Intensity I- Tagaytay City

No damage or aftershocks is expected according to PHIVOLCS.

Batangas is currently under state of calamity due to Taal Volcano Eruption.
