The Philippine Men’s Volleyball Team defeats four-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Champion Thailand in 5 thrilling sets inside the jampacked Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Sunday night, December 08, 2019.

It’s a historic night for the Philippine team. After 42 years, the national team is finally back in the final round of the SEA Games men’s volleyball competition.

The semifinal round goes down the wire in five thrilling sets.

  • Set 1: 17-25 Thailand
  • Set 2: 25-20 PH
  • Set 3: 22-25 Thailand
  • Set 4: 27-25 PH
  • Set 5: 17-15 PH

The Balayan, Batangas native Bryan Bagunas immortalized himself as a modern hero of PH men’s volleyball after tallying a personal best SEA Games record of 27 points which includes the game winning hit.

One good thing about SEA Games 2019 is the theme; We Win As One, sports fans are cheering and supporting not just for their national team but for other team as well.

The Philippines who ranks no. 131 in the world after beating world ranked no.39 Thailand will battle Indonesia in the Gold medal round on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Philsports arena (Ultra) in Pasig City. Meanwhile, Thailand will face Myanmar for the bronze.

During the preliminary round of the tournament the Indonesians were able to sweep the Philippines, 3-0.
