Batangas City Tanduay Athletics is on the brink of losing back-to-back MPBL championships as their tormentor Davao Occidental Tigers draw first blood over the inaugural champs during Game 1 of Best-of-3 South Division Finals series.
The Tigers hosted the Athletics inside their jam-packed den, Almendras Gym in Davao City.

The gutsy Athletics fought back but simply can’t tame the Tigers as the old Batangas reliables Jeff Viernes was limited only to nine points while the hulking big man Jhaymo Eguilos scored 7 points for Batangas.
Meanwhile, Jayson Grimaldo is the lone bright spot for Batangas who scored 13 points on 6-6 shooting.
Final score is 66-48, Davao.
